About Us
Support 4 Women has been developed in response to requests for information from women throughout the UK and the health professionals who work with them.
It was a way of sharing the wealth of experience and free advice available from bras4mums.
It all started when working mum Tracey-Jane Hughes (T-J) was breastfeeding her second son and struggled to find sensible advice to get a bra that fitted properly!
T-J reseached bra styles and sizes, trained as a bra fitter and set up bras4mums.co.uk in June 2004 in tandem with her job at The Prince's Trust.
Bras4mums became a huge success, and T-J became a full time online retailer.
But she also continued to "champion" the importance of getting bras that support body changes pre and post-birth.
T-J began to offer a free home fitting service in the North West of England, and travelled the UK to carry out bra fittings at baby shows and other relevant events.
Next step was to start offering workshops and presentations at support groups.
And when the free advice and help offered began to be as important as the product range, support4women was created.
The story continues....
To help the growing numbers of other women who are buying items from the bras4mums range, T-J and her team are about to launch bras4all. It will offer a broad range of underwear and accessories for women of all shapes, sizes and needs. Contact us for more information.
bras4mums, bras4all and support4women are ethical companies - being fair in all we do. All our paper is from 100% recycled stock, and we use degradable packaging to send out our deliveries. The office uses electricity from 100% renewable sources, and we send our deliveries using Royal Mail to try to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. Any waste products are recycled where possible. We bank with the Co-operative Bank. We have just been registered with Ethical Junction, which will be checked every year to ensure we meet with their strict ethical criteria.
Some of these decisions cost us more, but we believe it is important to consider our environment, our suppliers and our customers in all we do. We are currently unable to give money directly to charity, but we do all we can to support the work of organisations who help women to keep healthy, keep choices open, and support breastfeeding. We also support fair trade through our partner company FairlyGoods, a company we set up and ran until September 2007, and is now run through a Social Enterprise supporting people with learning disabilities.
